Bertie's grandsons set to appear on The
Late Late

THE Taoiseach's grandsons have already
been pencilled in for a stint under the spotlights of the Late Late
Show.
They may have only just braved the cameras for the first time but
the five-week-old twins are already set to be guests on a tribute
special to Westlife. It is expected all the family and friends of
the successful boy band, including Nicky and Georgina Byrne's twins,
Jay and Roco, and Shane and Gillian Filan's toddler Nicole will take
part in the full-length chat show.
A spokeswoman for new Dad Nicky said: "The Late Late Show has been
very good to the boys, they have played on it every year for the
past 10 years."
The special tribute show to celebrate the boyband's success is
expected to take place before Christmas.
They are following in the footsteps of a number of other famous
Irish acts who have had special tribute shows including The
Dubliners and Christy Moore.
After a string of sell-out concerts at Dublin's Point Theatre, the
band are taking a break before working on their next album later
this year. They have sold nearly 30m albums since 1998.
Louis Walsh created the band from the members of IOU, including
Sligo singers Mark Feehily, Kian Egan and Shane Filan - and after
auditions they were joined by Dubliners Nicky Byrne and Brian
McFadden.

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern's twin grandsons will have a starring
role on a Late Late Show special.
They will make their TV debut the week before Christmas on a tribute
to proud dad Nicky Byrne's band Westlife.
Little Rocco and Jay were born six weeks premature on April 20.
Westlife manager Louis Walsh said: "Besides the band it will feature
family and friends, and even Nicky and Georgina's new twins.
"It's the ultimate tribute to them and their amazing success. There
will also be plenty of music.
"It is expected former member Brian McFadden will make a brief
return to the fold on the night."
Nicky and his wife Georgina - the Taoiseach's daughter - dressed the
tots in matching blue when they posed with their granddad at the
weekend.
Westlife join The Dubliners and Christy Moore as only a handful of
musicians with an entire editiin of the Late Late Show devoted to
them.

Introducing Rocco and Jay Byrne - Nicky quote

Nicky Byrne, 28, and his high school sweetheart,
Georgina Ahern Byrne,
27, welcomed fraternal twin boys
Rocco Bertie and
Jay Nicky on April
20th. They were born by c-section, six weeks early, in Dublin,
Ireland, and have recently been released from the NICU. They pose
with Georgina's dad, Irish premier
Bertie Ahern, of
whom Nicky said,
"I am sure Bertie will babysit his two
grandchildren, he is well capable...there is no better man for
caring for the two babies".

For twins Rocco and Jay, an outfit
costing E16.90
Source: Daily Mail / Credits:

For twins Rocco and Jay, an outfit costing
e16.90 SHE has stunning good looks, a pop star husband and her
father is leader of the country.
So when Georgina Ahern dressed her newly-born twins to meet the
media at the weekend, she could have been forgiven for splashing
out.
Ralph Lauren, perhaps, or even Prada's expensive range.
But close inspection of the stunning pictures that filled Ireland's
papers reveal Georgina to be a lady of modest taste.
In fact the twins' outfits cost less than E35.
Georgina and her Westlife singer husband Nicky Byrne kitted out
Rocco and Jay in Belgian label Premaman for their first photo shoot,
with grandfather Bertie.
Donning matching white beanies, baby blue trousers and matching tops
with adorable puppy cut-outs on the front the outfits were a hit
with onlookers.
And the ensemble only set the couple back E16.90 for each outfit,
which they purchased from Premaman's Malahide store. A company
spokesman yesterday confirmed that Nicky and Georgina were regular
customers. But those hoping to get their hands on the cute outfits
were warned to act quickly.
'Only a limited number of that particular item is still available as
Premaman does not mass produce to avoid market saturation,' he said.
The fashion label, which features maternity wear, toys and
pushchairs, is more than 50 years old. Its popularity in Ireland is
shown by the fact that the company has opened new stores in
Drogheda, Limerick, Cork and Mullingar in the past six weeks.
Rocco and Jay Byrne were born six weeks premature by Caesarean
section on April 20.
They were only released from Holles Street Hospital's intensive care
unit in the past two weeks.
Despite the recent birth, Georgina Ahern looks to be in fabulous
shape.
However, a spokesman for the couple said yesterday that the
qualified fitness instructor had not been back to the gym just yet.
'She practically hasn't left the house and before that her exercise
was going to the hospital and back.
'But she's just naturally slim. I mean, she looked great when she
came out of hospital just five days later.' Aside from possessing
that celebrity knack of bouncing back into shape, it seems that the
couple are facing the same challenges encountered by all new
parents.
'They're in great form.
Obviously anybody who has twins knows it is full on,' the couple's
spokesman said yesterday.
'They're not getting much sleep at the moment, but obviously they
have great parental support.
'And it's something they've always wanted.'

Westlife star Nicky proudly introduces
his twin sons
Source: Hello Magazine
Sleeping soundly in their matching blue outfits,
Ireland's most famous newborns Rocco and Jay took
their first major photocall in their stride. The
twin boys were lovingly held in the arms of thrilled
parents Westlife star Nicky Byrne and his wife
Georgina Ahern while her father, the Taoiseach
Bertie Ahern, beamed with pride.

The boys have
only recently been able to join their parents in
their home in Malahide, just north of Dublin, as
they needed special care after being born by
caesarean section six weeks early on April 20.
First-time dad Nicky, who married Georgina three
years ago in France, now has the next few months to
enjoy quality time with his sons before beginning
work on a new album in early August.
Shortly after
their birth the ecstatic 28-year-old revealed he
would love them to follow in his musical footsteps
rather than politics like their grandfather. "When
Georgina was pregnant I used to sing to her and now
the boys are born I am still singing to them," said
Nicky, who is clearly hoping his talent rubs off on
the duo.
Rocco's middle
name, Bertie, is in honour of the Irish prime
minister, while Jay Nick was named after Nicky's
dad. "I am sure Bertie will babysit his two
grandchildren, he is well capable… there is no
better man for caring for the two babies," says the
boyband star, who enjoys a close relationship with
his famous father-in-law.
Little Rocco
and Jay are the latest additions to the Westlife
family. Nicky's bandmate Shane Filan has a young
daughter, Nicole, with wife Gillian, while former
group member Brian McFadden has two daughters, Molly
and Lily-Sue, with former wife Kerry Katona.

HELPING bring peace to Northern Ireland is
Bertie Ahern's biggest achievement in office, he said yesterday.
And such is the change in cross-border relations that one of the
first people to congratulate the Taoiseach on his third term in
power was First Minister and DUP leader Ian Paisley.
As the Taoiseach prepared to go into talks today with potential
coalition partners, he celebrated his triumph yesterday with new
grandsons Rocco and Jay.
The hat-trick Taoiseach beamed as he posed for his first official

Sleepyheads . . . laid-back Grandad
admits he was out for the count
Source: Irish Independent / By Jason O'Brien
IF Grandad
can do it, then so can we.
Rocco
Bertie Byrne and Jay Nick Byrne were
photographed by the media for the first time
yesterday and slept soundly throughout.
Their
grandfather, the Taoiseach, was somewhat more
energetic. But then he had earlier claimed he
slept soundly through much of his own big day,
Friday's election count, so this could explain
his fresh appearance.
"I know
I'm an unusual guy in a number of ways but in
fact the first report I had got on the entire
election was when my daughter Cecelia contacted
me at 5.40 in the afternoon to tell me things
were going well," he chuckled. "I had no contact
with the outside world until then."
So - let
us get this straight - on the day of the
most-anticipated election count in decades, the
leader of Fianna Fail had no idea how destiny
was panning out for his soldiers until tea time?
"None whatsoever."
And all
because you didn't get out of the scratcher? "I
was in bed, I slept until about twenty past four
in the afternoon." Some of Manchester
businessman Michael Wall's money must have been
spent on a decent mattress.
Taking
into consideration that Bertie revealed last
week that he had been surviving on four hours'
sleep a night for five weeks, his claim of an
epic shuteye is a little easier to swallow.
It is
still hard, though, to shake the image of him
sitting on the couch in Drumcondra, mobile phone
off, glued to the screen and nodding to himself
as his greatest victory unfolds. Now we know
that Bertie was so laid back about it all, he
was horizontal.
"Cecelia
said, 'Everything is going to be okay, it's
going well and it's going well throughout the
country', and I left it at that," he said,
"I think
the next person I spoke to was [Fianna Fail
press director] Mandy [Johnston] about an hour
later so I didn't watch any tv or radio until
the nine o'clock news."
Come to
think of it, he didn't miss much. Nor did his
granddad kids yesterday. The cute pair, in baby
blue and white woolly hats, were held by parents
Nicky and Georgina as photographers filed into a
small room in the Malahide Grand Hotel in north
Dublin for a quick shot.
Little
Rocco made his first trip home last Sunday; his
brother had beaten him to it by a couple of
days. They had been cared for at the Maternity
Hospital in Holles Street since their birth
there - six weeks premature - on April 20.
Neither
boy was answering questions yesterday. Nor,
indeed, was their grandfather who, admittedly,
looked well-rested. Billed as a photocall,
journalists hoping for a quick word, a quick
look or even offering to change a nappy were
left to sulk in the corner.
Earlier,
Bertie had said that there was no problem with
the media despite throwing the toys out of the
pram on Friday night.
"I'm not
in any way angry and 98pc of media I don't have
a problem with ever..." he told RTE radio.
"I'm not a
bitter person, I don't hold grudges, I don't go
around saying 'so and so, so and so said that, I
have to get him back'.
"I'm not
interested in that, it's not Bertie Ahern, the
campaign is over and other than being fairly
wrecked, tired like every other politician I'm
not at all angry at the media or anybody else."
Most
likely then he was just a little tetchy on
Friday night - despite the big sleep - when he
took a swipe at journalists, their salaries,
their expense accounts and the reasons behind
the questions they asked.
It's all a
little childish. Yesterday was just about the
boys, really.
Mr Ahern
revealed that they had been in to see him last
week at campaign headquarters, and if, in 20
years, they asked what he was most proud of, he
had the answer ready.
"The
answer for that is easy for me, I have had 30
years in politics, 40 years almost since I left
school ... it is to move from the horrors of
Northern Ireland that I went to school with,
spent my teenage years with, spent my 20s
playing football with, spent my political years
with - to see that solved, nothing I will do can
ever beat that," he said.
Bertie
Ahern is a man who has fought some extraordinary
battles, and is now on the brink of leading his
party back into power for the third time in
succession.
This time,
he will be heading back to the Dail as a
granddad.
And given
that he has just faced down the mother of all
election battles, it's probably no wonder Bertie
can, for the moment at least, sleep easy.
He knows
he still holds all the cards when he returns to
the table later this week.

Squabbling Cowell and Walsh make up
Source: Mid Sussex Times
Television's squabbling
twosome Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh appear to have made up
after Cowell was handed the Big Red Book in ITV's This is Your
Life.
The pair always played
Punch and Judy for the crowds on the X Factor but things turned
ugly when Walsh blamed Cowell for giving him the sack from the
show.

Walsh said of the sacking: "I was axed from the X Factor,
stabbed in the back. The buck stops with Simon. He hires and he
fires."
Cowell said he aims to put the experience to good use in a TV
drama about two feuding TV talent show judges: Rock Rivals, the
latest show from Footballers' Wives creators Shed Productions.
Now it appears the row is behind them. Cowell told Walsh, who
appeared on the set of the Sir Trevor McDonald-anchored show in
Los Angeles: "I humbly offer a grovelling apology Louis."
After the pair hug, Louis tells Sir Trevor: "Listen, honestly,
he's the best. He's a really good guy and we've had amazing
success with our artists (including Westlife and Shayne Ward) so
far. And we're going to have a lot more with our records."
He went on: "All is forgiven. Forgiven but not forgotten."
Cowell said: "Let's just say forgiven, alright."
Walsh replied: "Whatever."

The dark-haired beauty, who is based in Britain, said her
relationship with her long-time boyfriend is very strong.
'Kian misses me but he doesn't get jealous. He knows there is
nothing to worry about,' she said.
'I think it's good for couples to have some time apart.
'It keeps things fresh; gives them a chance to really miss you.'
Jodi, who has been with the Sligo singer for four years, also hinted
at some of the exotic locations the couple might holiday in after

She told Hello magazine: 'Kian andI have been to Hawaii, the

A
brief history of crooning - mentioning Westlife
Source: Financial Times / by Paul Morley
Crooning has moved on from the days when it was regarded as maudlin
and effeminate.
In the mid-1920s, the radio microphone was perfected, sensitive to
soft sounds, and the lightness of breathing. Popular singing changed
forever: instead of having to project their voices to the back of
theatres, singers developed a more subtle vocal aesthetic; they
could focus on emotion, tone and nuance, not volume.
Miraculously murmuring Bing Crosby was the reaction to the mannered,
shouty Al Jolson and the stilted, other-worldly Enrico Caruso.
Jolson still used a formal European operatic style, mixed crudely
with the American minstrel tradition. Crosby, and other early Romeos
of the radio like Rudy Vallee, skilfully used the microphone to move
closer to the listener, to sound more confidential and attentive.
For all the conversational reserve of the singers, these new
crooners had a caressing, insinuating freshness that was incredibly
erotic. From the beginning, crooning was an unspectacular,
homogenising blend of intensely romantic Victorian ballads, novelty
song friskiness and the carefree emotion of jazz, but the new
technology made it seem innovative and beguiling. Frank Sinatra
hated the term 'crooner', as crooning was thought of as maudlin and
effeminate, but he developed Crosby's intimate technique with the
microphone and expanded his manipulation of jazz phrasing.
In the 1950s rock and roll liberated the kind of insurgent black
blues energy not appropriate in romantic radio crooning, and
crooning sounded increasingly quaint and dreamy, although Elvis was
later to fold its melodrama into his particular fusion.
By the hippy 1960s, it was irrelevantly anodyne, left to the banal
bow-tied likes of Jack Jones, Matt Monro and Engelbert Humperdinck.
As rock and pop moved through the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, crooning
seemed irretrievably old-fashioned, though Crosby and Sinatra's
relaxed, wooing techniques were still being used in various
disguises by Jim Morrison, David Bowie, Bryan Ferry, Morrissey and
even Kurt Cobain.
For Robbie Williams and Westlife, crooning would
mean instantly applied sophistication, and turn-of-the-century
nostalgia for the hip, light-hearted Rat Pack era gave crooning a
little ironic gloss of cool.

Rock of the
town
Source: Daily Record / By Brian
Mciver
VH-1 experts
will decide this weekend which UK city is the best
for music.
IT doesn't matter whether it's Franz
Ferdinand, Travis or Darius, everybody loves to see a
star act from their home town doing well.
But this weekend the argument over
which city is the rock capital of the UK will be
settled.
Eight locations across Britain and
Ireland are doing battle in a head-to-head contest on
VH-1.
Glasgow, home to Travis, Wet, Wet,
Wet, Simple Minds among others, is the only Scottish
contender in the VH1 Nation's Favourite Music City and
is taking on Birmingham, Dublin, London, Sheffield,
Manchester, Liverpool, Blackwood and surrounding areas
in Wales.
Experts will compare the success of
artists and calculate the winning location by seeing
which city's stars have amassed the most No.1s in the
last 20 years. Here is a guide to the country's most
successful rock cities
The Nation's Favourite Music City is
on VH1, Saturday, May 26, at 7pm.
GLASGOW
AS the only Scottish representative,
we need to hope that the combined skills of Darius,
Michelle McManus and Wet Wet Wet take Glasgow over the
top.
With two of the best live venues -
King Tut's Wah Wah Hut and The Barrowland Ballroom -
Glasgow has a proud tradition of rocking out and is in
with a decent shout.
Primal Scream, Fairground Attraction,
Edwyn Collins, The Bluebells, The Fratellis, Franz
Ferdinand, Simple Minds, Texas, Altered Images, Travis
and Belle and Sebastian all hail from Glasgow. While
Lanarkshire acts like Soup Dragons and The Jesus and
Mary Chain get a shout and Paisley's Paolo Nutini and
Gerry Rafferty are included by proximity.
Former Altered Images singer Clare
Grogan said: "I've got a soft spot for all the Glasgow
jangley guitar types - Orange Juice, Aztec Camera, Franz
Ferdinand and new band BriColage.
"Music is a way of life in Glasgow."
DUBLIN
THE Irish capital has had a huge
influence on music in the British Isles and around the
world, enjoying some incredible chart-topping acts, as
well as a seeming monopoly on clean-cut boy-band stars.
U2 are the worldwide kings of rock
'n' roll, while Sinead O' Connor, The Corrs, Samantha
Mumba, and even Enya have all done well.
In terms of manufactured pop acts,
the Fair City is also home to B*Witched, Boyzone,
Westlife and solo efforts from Ronan Keating and Brian
McFadden.
Boyzone's Shane Lynch said: "I think
Dublin should be crowned the nation's favourite music
city because of the large amount of bands that have been
successful worldwide."
LIVERPOOL
IF it was a poll of all-time number
one stars, then Liverpool would be the clear winner
thanks to the Fab Four.
But since The Beatles are no longer
with us, it's down to the more modern Liverpool-born pop
stars to carry on the proud tradition.
Atomic Kitten, Sonia, The La's, The
Farm, The Zutons, Lightning Seeds, OMD and Melanie C are
all flying the Merseyside flag.
Ex-Atomic Kitten singer Liz McClarnon
said: "We have had more Number Ones (56 to be precise)
than any other city in the world."
MANCHESTER
THE rivalry between the two major
cities of north-west England will be fuelled here.
Oasis have been the biggest
Manchester band for the last 10 years but the entire
Madchester sound will be able to stick their oar in as
well.
The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Black
Grape, The Smiths, Morrissey, New Order, James, Simply
Red, Take That and Joy Division are some of its top
acts.
SHEFFIELD
THE former steel capital has become a
bit of an indie rock hotspot in recent years as home to
uber hip rockers Arctic Monkeys.
They are following in the footsteps
of Pulp, Moloko, Def Leppard, Joe Cocker, Heaven 17 and
Human League.
Human League's Susan Sulley said:
"Sheffield has diversity, vibrancy and good old solid
northern working class that makes people stand up and
listen. From the 60s to now, and every decade in
between, we make music like our steel, strong and it
stands the test of time."
BLACKWOOD
(WALES)
BLACKWOOD is being highlighted for
the vote as it's the home town of Manic Street
Preachers. But as Welsh pop acts are so spread around,
all bands from Wales are also being considered under the
umbrella entry. So as well as the Manics, the success of
Catatonia, Tom Jones, the Stereophonics, Goldie Lookin'
Chain, Feeder, Super Furry Animals and The Automatic can
also be counted as the experts consider the success of
our Celtic cousins.
LONDON
AS one of the biggest, busiest and
most cosmopolitan cities in the world, London has also
spawned countless generations of great popstars. Classic
acts like David Bowie, The Sex Pistols, The Clash and
The Who all hail from London, while the last two decades
have seen hits from bands and singers like Sugababes,
East 17, Blur, Madness and Lily Allen.
Blur's Alex James said: "I think
London should be crowned the nation's favourite music
city because it's obvious."
BIRMINGHAM
AS the second largest city in the UK,
the Midlands metropolis has produced a pretty diverse
batch of musicians over the years, from reggae to pop,
heavy metal to dance. Duran Duran, Jamelia, Ozzy
Osbourne and his band Black Sabbath, The Streets, Ocean
Colour Scene, The Wonder Stuff and UB40 are just some of
their favourite sons. Miles Hunt of The Wonderstuff
argues their case: "I think Birmingham should be crowned
the nation's favourite music city because we didn't
pollute the world with the God awful B**tles."
SCOTS VENUES' MUSICAL HERITAGE
Other Scots cities that are musical
hotspots:
DUNDEE
Ricky Ross from Deacon Blue is a
Dundee boy, while chart sensations The View are also
proud to come from the City of Discovery.
The Average White Band are from
Tayside, while Brian Molko of Placebo also lived there
for a while. Snow Patrol were formed in Dundee, as were
the groups Danny Wilson and The Associates.
ABERDEEN
Annie Lennox is the most famous
musician from the Granite City. She enjoyed incredible
success both with the Eurythmics and as a solo artist.
EDINBURGH
From the cheese factor of the Bay
City Rollers to people's favourites The Proclaimers,
Scotland's capital has an excellent musical pedigree.
Shirley Manson, lead singer of
Garbage, and rockers Idlewild are among the most famous.
DUNFERMLINE
The Fife town may not be as populous
as some of the bigger cities in Scotland, but its locale
is home to rock bands like The Skids, Big Country and
Nazareth. KT Tunstall also hails from nearby St Andrews.

On what may be her last girls-only
break Jodi Albert tells why she'll kiss goodbye to the single life
for Westlife's Kian Egan.
Looking even more gorgeous that usual with their deep tans, it’s
easy to see why ex-Hollyoaks actress Jodi Albert and Sarah Dunn
captured the attention of over-eager male admirers during their
girls-only holiday in Miami. “American men can be so forward! They’d
come over, sit at our table and wouldn’t leave us alone for the rest
of the night,” laughs Sarah, who left Hollyoaks last year. “We’d
say, ‘Sorry, we all have boyfriends.’ ” Adds Jodi: “And they still
wouldn’t go away! No matter what we said, they’d just reply, ‘Oh,
your accent is so cute!’ ”
Jodi’s boyfriend of four years, Kian Egan from Westlife, could be
forgiven for feeling slightly jealous at the thought of men ogling
his girlfriend, but she says he trusts her completely.
“We have a really strong relationship,” explains Jodi, “and we know
there’s nothing to worry about.”
Every year she and Sarah go on a girlie holiday together, taking a
selection of their closest girlfriends with them. This year the
posse included another Hollyoakes ‘babe’, Gemma Atkinson - who left
her boyfriend, Manchester United footballer Cristiano Ronaldo,
behind - and the destination was Miami, where they enjoyed a week at
the glamorous Ritz-Carlton.
On return from Miami, Jodi and Sarah had barely set foot at Heathrow
when HELLO! whisked them off for a candid chat.
Tell us about your exploits in Miami…
Jodi: “We sunbathed, drank cocktails, partied, and of course,
shopped!”
Are you party animals?
J: “We did have two crazy nights partying, but we’d all gone away
with the intention of just relaxing together. I can’t go out
partying every night anyway - I need some recovery time!”
What’s the best thing about going on a girlie holiday?
Sarah: “It’s so wonderful to get rid of all the men and the
stresses! [laughs]. No, it’s all the catching up you can do. It’s
great taking time out for each other, spending all day just chatting
with the girls and having fun. And it makes you appreciate the time
you spend with your boyfriend.”
J: “I think it’s good for couples to have time apart - it helps keep
things fresh and gives them a chance to really miss you. Our
boyfriends were ringing us saying: ‘We miss you, when are you coming
back?’ ”
Do they get jealous while you’re away from them?
S: “No, not at all. And that’s really important. I’m always going to
want to go away with the girls, so if my boyfriend didn’t like it
then that would be a big problem.”
J: “Kian misses me, but he doesn’t get jealous.”
Jodi, what do you think of newspaper claims that Kian dreams of a
back-packing honeymoon?
“That’s hilarious! He never said that. He said that once we do get
married, it would be nice to go traveling, to see the world by not
only staying at luxurious resorts. But we don’t want to go
backpacking. Well, I don’t. He can go backpacking if he wants. I’ll
stay at the hotel spa!”
What would your ideal honeymoon location be?
J: “Somewhere exotic. A beautiful place with white sandy beaches
where you think, ‘Wow, I’m so lucky to be alive and to see this.’
Kian and I have been to Hawaii, the Maldives and Barbados, and we’ve
loved it there. So it could be anywhere like that.”
In Miami, where you surprised at all the press attention you
received?
J: “It was overwhelming. We’re not known at all in America, so we
were completely shocked when photographers started chasing us.”
S: “The Americans would come up to us and say, ‘Who are you guys?’
And we’d reply, ‘Oh, no one, but we’ve heard that Lindsay Lohan and
Britney Spears are here somewhere!’ ”
Are you ever tempted to pack up and leave England for Hollywood?
J: “Not a hope. It’s just a myth that you have to move to Hollywood
to become a superstar. I could never live there - it’s a bit phoney.
I want to be with my family, to be around people who are real.”
S: “I’d go there for holidays rather than going out there trying to
get work, being one of millions hoping for a break. It’s a bit of a
rat race.”
Being in the public eye, do you feel under pressure to look good?
J: “I’m not obsessed. People look at actresses and think they are
perfect looking with perfect figures, but it’s an illusion. I’m just
a normal girl trying to do the best with what I’ve got.”
S: “I think every woman feels under pressure. But at the end of the
day, you are what you are. There’s no point getting hung up on any
so called flaws.”
How does it feel to be hailed as sex symbols?
S: “You haven’t seen me in the morning! Sometimes I look at myself
in the mirror and think, ‘What? Are they having a laugh?’ ”
J: “I’d prefer people say I’m a good actress rather than a sex
symbol.”
Would you ever pose nude?
J: “No - my dad would see it and that would be so embarrassing!”
S: “Never.”

Rocco and Jay welcomed home -
But no snaps before granda's big day

AFTER more
than a month in hospital, the Taoiseach's
grandchildren Rocco and Jay have finally made
their way home.
While
little Jay made his first trip home early last
week, new parents Georgina Ahern and Nicky Byrne
got an unexpected present yesterday when doctors
gave the go-ahead for Rocco to join them too.

and Georgina pictured leaving Holles
Street Hospital last month |
Last
night, the twins were said to be "safe and
sound" at home with their parents in Malahide,
Co Dublin.
They had
been cared for at the National Maternity
Hospital in Holles Street since their birth
there - six weeks premature - on April 20.
Both
babies weighed around three pounds when
delivered by cesarean section. However, since
then the tots have been "piling on the weight".
Jay was
first to be allowed home by doctors last Tuesday
and Georgina and Nicky were not expecting to
bring their second son home until later this
week.
However,
not to be outdone, Rocco ensured he was hot on
his brother's heels.
"Rocco
went home today. It was completely unexpected.
Georgina and Nicky were expecting to bring him
home later in the week. This is the best present
they could have got," said the couple's
spokesperson.
And while
there is still no set date for the country's
most famous babies' public debut, it will not be
before polling day on Thursday.
The couple
are going to discuss the release of the babies'
first photographs with their families but have
already decided grandfather Bertie Ahern has to
get the election over with first.
Instead,
the photograph is expected to be made public in
the next two weeks.
In the
days following the twins' birth, Nicky and
Georgina turned down million euro offers for the
first photographs.

Forever young The five ages of kids'
bands
Source: The
Independent
-- article shortened --
1960s: Monkeying around
The formation of the Monkees in 1965
heralded the birth of the manufactured
pop band - hot off the success of the
Beatles in the UK. They were hand-picked
by TV producers Bert Schneider and Bob
Rafelson, to play a fictional TV
pop-group, Davy, Micky, Mike and Peter
(the four plucky members) - and are
widely regarded the first band to be
groomed from start to finish as a
commercial product. Everything was
carefully manufactured, from their music
to their TV personae, paving the way for
generations of their squeaky-clean
proteges. They are best known for hits
such as "I'm a Believer" (1966), "(I'm
not your) Steppin' Stone" (1966) and
"Daydream Believer" (1967). They
disbanded in 1970.
1970s: We are family
Family ties provided the selling power
behind the young bands of the 1970s -
and the Bay City Rollers were the UK
trailblazers. The tartan-clad teenagers,
with their cheery singalong pop anthems
such as "Summerlove Sensation" (1974)
and "Shang-a-Lang" (1975) were a hit,
creating nationwide "Rollermania" and
winning them a 20-week UK TV series.
Over the pond, a plethora of young bands
were quick to cash in on the promise of
a musically-talented gene pool. Famous
examples were The Jackson Five, The
Partridge Family and The Osmonds - which
consists of brothers Alan, Wayne,
Merrill, Jay, Donny and "Little" Jimmy.
The saccharine-sweet naivity, the
uplifting songs and the convenient
crossover between the worlds of
television was a perfect vehicle for the
1970s family bands.
1980s: Shiny happy people
The antithesis of the 1970s message of
shiny happy family, was the pouting,
arrogant materialistic leather-clad
institution of the 1980s bad boy bands.
First up, from the obscurity of
Bushymeads School in the suburbs of east
London, sprung George Michael and Andrew
Ridgeley with Wham! They released their
first single "Wham! Rap (Enjoy What You
Do)" in 1982, the fun-loving,
cocktail-swilling dream team soon became
Britain's biggest pop act. From the
do-it-yourself school of pop came Duran
Duran with their 1981 debut album, also
titled Duran Duran. The winning
combination of good-looks, new romantic
style and edgy pop-electronica won them
an adoring following of teenage fans and
countless magazine spreads. John Taylor
remarked that the band "was like a box
of Quality Streets: everyone is
someone's favourite". Meanwhile,
manufactured US boy band, New Kids on
the Block were storming the US charts.
NKOTB was the brainchild of US
producer-songwriter Maurice Starr, and
consisted of brothers Jordan and
Jonathan Knight, Joe McIntyre, Donnie
Wahlburg and Danny Wood. The group went
on to sell 70m albums world-wide and
paved the way for schools of major boy
band success stories, including NSYNC
and Backstreet Boys.
1990s: Boys are back in town
Pre-packaged, pre-fabricated,
pre-meditated - the 1990s were the
golden era of the boy band. The most
notable success story were the
starry-eyed northern sweethearts, Take
That, which comprised Gary Barlow (the
podgy one), Mark Owen (the pretty one),
Robbie Williams (the cheeky one), Jason
Orange (the horsey one) and Howard
Donald (the, er... other one).
Hand-picked by producer and manager,
Nigel Martin Smith, they released their
first single, "It Only Takes a Minute"
in 1990, and followed it with a
catalogue of top 10 hits including
"Pray", "Relight My Fire" and "Babe" in
1993. They became the biggest selling
pop group in the UK since the Beatles,
but disbanded in 1995 after Robbie
packed his bags to hang out with the
indie kids at Glastonbury. Other notable
boy band replicas of the 1990s include
East 17, 5ive, and the squeaky-clean
Westlife, signed by Simon Cowell in 1998
and managed by Louis Walsh. For a while
the boys were wearing more fake tan then
the girls, and we thought we'd never get
our hair straighteners back - until
reality-TV series such as Pop Idol and
X-Factor signalled the death knell for
the pre-fab band.
2000s: Different class
Moving swiftly away from their polished
1990s forebears, the young bands of the
new millennium placed a high price on
the appearance of "difference" and
"authenticity." Bands such as Busted
(2001) and McFly (2004) bridged the gap
between the saccharine-sweet man-pop of
the previous decade and the new
generation of pop music with a slightly
harder, more rock'n'roll edge. They were
still teenagers playing mainstream pop,
but they had scruffier hair and an air
of skater-boy chic. Slick Brighton
four-piece, The Kooks, hit the charts
with their debut album, Inside In/
Inside Out in 2006, heralding the birth
of a new generation of young bands with
mainstream appeal, and a niche-market
image. Today the music scene is
saturated with new young bands like
Cajun Dance Party, Pull In Emergency and
Bombay Bicycle Club, launching
themselves into orbit.

We have got a little world at our home - but
one of twins kept in hospital’
Source: Sunday World / Showbix Exclusive
One of Bertie Ahern’s new grandsons is now safely home.
Westlife star Nicky Byrne and his wife Georgina have taken little
Jay to their home to take care of him. The tot was brought to home
on Tuesday, weighing 4lbs, 5 ounces. At birth he was just 2lbs.
His brother Rocco was born slightly bigger at 2lbs, 1 ounce however
he is still being cared for in hosipital in an incubator and
currently weighs 3lbs five ounces.
Jay was brought home to Malahide, north Dublin, by Georgina and her
mother Miriam. The family are still making regular visits to Holles
Street hospital in Dublin to check up on Rocco’s progress. He’s
expected to be released later this week when he reaches 5 lbs.
Both babies were born perfectly healthy although they were nearly
two months premature, Bertie has also visited the Byrne household in
Malahide to welcome his grandson Jay to his new home.
Holles Street has one of the finest facilities in the country for
dealing with premature births. Georgina had been kept in for
observation the night before the births and Nicky had to run in from
their Malahide home when the began to arrive around 6am.
The proud parents have stressed their thanks to the ‘fantastic
staff’ in Holles street for all their help.
Nicky and Georgina have also decided who the godparents of the
children will be. ‘Cecelia, Georgina’s sister, and Adam, my brother,
for Rocco, and Gillian, my sister, and her husband Mark for Jay’,
Nicky revealed.
Honour
Nicky also says that he already noticed the little differences
between the non-identical twins. ‘They look like brothers obviously,
but there are differences. I think Rocco looks a little more like me
and Jay is the image of Georgina, he’s got big eyes,’ he says.
Rocce has been given the second name of ‘Bertie’ in honour of the
Taoiseach, while Jay’s second name is ‘Nicky’, named after Nick’s
father.

Loyal Miriam - bit about Georgina and twins

-- only taken the relevant bit --
While the election campaign had been difficult for her and for
her husband, Miriam's spirits have clearly been lifted by the birth
of her grandsons, twins Rocco and Jay.
Asked how the two boys were doing, Miriam was pleased to report
their progress as she accompanied her former husband on the campaign
trail in Drumcondra, at the heart of his Dublin Central
constituency.
"They're doing very good. They're thriving actually. I get to see
them every day. I got to hold Jay the other day and it was
wonderful," she said, beaming with pride.
The twins' motherGeorgina, is also doing well according to Miriam.
"She's doing well. She's resting at the moment. She's going to need
all the energy she can get for when the two of them are home in a
couple of weeks.
"When the two boys are home, they won't be running around, but she
will!"

Bertie gets that old bounce back in
Bandon And Poi - funny Nicky mentioning
Credits:

-- article shortened --
AS the Taoiseach's car drew up in front of CBS Mitchelstown on a
blustery Friday morning, the ranks of schoolboys lined around the
quadrangle jostled for a look.
"Don't surge forward!" warned deputy principal Tom O'Flynn. A cynic
in the crowd snorted, "Jay, it's Bertie, not Bono".
Bertie's brand of rock and roll went across five constituencies
yesterday, as he took his roadshow to Mitchelstown, Kanturk, Bandon
and Cork city.
In fact, his handsome Westlife son-in-law Nicky Byrne could have
rollerbladed naked through Cork and no-one would have paid a blind
bit of notice.
A huge crowd awaited Bertie at the door of one walkabout in a
shopping centre, as he paused to put a few euro into a collection
box for the Irish Cancer Society. One woman behind the collection
desk sniffed: "You can do better than that!"
But as the women of Cork went yesterday, she was an exception.
Every step he took on his tours, he was surrounded by Mna na
hEireann - women pushing buggies, shoving babies into his arms,
girls grabbing him for a kiss. Even local nun Sister Josephine
planted a shy smacker on his cheek. Auld wans with bony elbows like
pokers jabbed the unwary out of the most direct route to Bertie.

Chef Grant has a taste for celebrity -
Mentioning Westlife
Source: BuryFreePress
Robbie Williams, Westlife
and Boyzone are just some of his celebrity customers, but chef
Grant Scott is looking forward to bringing some star quality to
the Six Bells pub, in Horringer. Grant, 42, joined the pub two
weeks ago after working in Newcastle for the past 27 years and
hopes to cook up a storm at the pub.
He said: "I want to offer people good value, home-cooked food –
a traditional menu with a twist."
Having cooked for Newcastle United and Sunderland football
clubs, Grant has had a taste of the high life.
"I met Robbie Williams at a charity football match once," he
said. "He came into the kitchen to see what food he liked and
seemed like a nice
bloke."
Boasting a menu of moules marinere, rib eye steak, peppered
salmon and a top class roast, Grant hopes to tickle the taste
buds of the great and the good of Horringer.
Ian Gooch, manager of the pub which runs cabaret nights every
Saturday, said: "It is very exciting to have Grant here and I
hope we can bring his style of cooking to our customers.
"We have tried everything he makes and it is gorgeous. It is all
cooked to perfection."
But Grant's new appointment does not spell the end of his glory
days with the rich and famous.
"We have already had Sophie Anderton in here last week," said
Ian. "But Grant missed her as he was in the kitchen."

Westlife get a milk moustache - new article
Source: Farmers Guardian
IRISH superstars Westlife will be the next
faces to front Scotland’s ‘The White Stuff Milk Moustache’ campaign.
They will appear on billboards and bus stops later this month
donning the famous white moustaches to help promote the benefits of
semi-skimmed milk as part of a balanced diet.

The band has been signed up
partly to get the message about the benefits of calcium in milk
across to its huge young female audience. Its involvement coincides
with National Osteoporosis Month in June.
This will stress how getting
sufficient levels of calcium in childhood and early adolescence is a
key factor in helping to prevent the disease that will affect one
into women.
It is a response to so-called
‘fad diets’ aimed at young girls, which discourage the use of dairy
products and ‘could be doing their body untold harm in the long
run’, according to the Scottish Dairy Marketing Company (SDMC).
The White Stuff campaign is a
joint initiative between the SDMC and the Milk Development Council
and co-funded by the EU.

Westlife Special from TVNow – many pics
included
Source: TVNow Magazine / Credits:
Luce for sending and sharing with Shane Filan NL. Thanks Luce!
* The place: Dublin’s Point Depot
* The gossip: This was the final night of Westlife’s sell-out 12
night run at The Point. And guess what? Didn’t Louis Walsh give
TVNow exclusive behind the scenes access! And imagine our surprise
when the Taoiseach showed up, as his daughter Georgina put it, ‘To
show his support for Nick.’ Check out a very special edition of Eye
on showbizz for all the backstage goss. >>>>

The proud new parents
Georgina and Nicky were positively glowing in the
joy of parenthood, especially as their premature twins, Rocco and
Jay, are thriving. ‘They are doing brilliantly,’ said Georgina.
‘They are starting to grow really well so I am very delighted, and
I’m feeling much more positive in myself seeing them do so well.’
The tiny two should be able to go home in a few weeks, but as
Georgina says, ‘We’ll see how it goes. Hopefully it will be sooner
rather than later. I can’t wait to get them home. But whenever they
are ready I suppose.’ And when Nicky described fatherhood, he almost
brought a tear to my eye. ‘It’s not the best thing that ever
happened to me. It’s the only thing that ever happened to me.’ Aaah.
Apparantly Rocco resembles Nicky more, and Jay Georgina. ‘But I am
sure that will probably change as they get older,’ added Georgina
cautiously. >>>>

The main men
Start of the night were of course Westlife. And despite the fact
that they were extremely busy gearing up for their final show, each
member still made ample time to talk to TVNow. Suffice to say, all
the lads are sorry to have reached the end of The Love World Tour,
but at the same time, they are very much looking forward to three
whole months off. This was best summed up by Mark, who told me,
‘It’s a bit sad, but we are looking forward to the break too.’
After their hiatus, the boys’ll be back in the studio to record a
new album. And to mark all their hard work and success, they were
presented on the night with a disc for achieving phenominal 10-times
platinum sales figures in Ireland for The Love Album.

It’s not often you find yourself in the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern’s
face, asking him about his favourite Westlife song. But that’s how I
found myself recently, when Louis Walsh kindly granted TVNow
exclusive behind the scenes access to the final night of Westlife’s
sell-out twelve-night run at The Point. Beyond the band themselves
obviously, I wasn’t qutie sure who’d be there. Might new Mum to
Rocco and Jay, Georgina Ahern, show up? Was there truth to the
rumour that David Gest would join the lads onstage? Would Colin
Farrell breeze through and fall instantly in love with me?
Of course I didn’t expect to see the Taoiseach. Surely he’s have
bigger fish to fry. But just moments before the boys were due to
perform, there he suddenly was. Flanked by serious-looking men in
suits, he marched purposefully down the corridor towards us. I had
to seize the moment. But what to ask? It wasn’t quite the setting to
address his personal finances. So, ‘What’s your favourite Westlife
song Berie?’ had to do. ‘I love them all,’ said he diplomatically as
he whisked me along. ‘But really, The Bee Gees are my band,’ he
continued, while inexplicably maintaining eye contact with me and
all others present. ‘I’ve been a fan all my life.’ And with that, he
ws off to enjoy the show, but not before meeting and greeting all in
his path. Yep, there’s no denying the man can work a room. But
Bertie wasn’t the only person backstage. Check out who else I
chatted to for this very special edition of Eye On Showbix. >>>>

As I worked backstage as best I could to bring you the juiciest
gossip possible, who should I bump into only Ronan Keating? And I
must say readers, though I’m not gone on blonds, he is rather damn
attractive in the flesh! Anyway, Ronan is busy as a bee. He’s
touring Asia this summer and has been kept well-occupied preparing
for that. And when it’s over, he’ll be collaborating with country
music singer and husband to Nicole Kidman, Keith ‘fresh out of
rehab’ Urban.
’I’m off to LA and Nashville doing a writing trip with him,’ he told
me. How did this come about? ‘We both like each other’s mucis I
guess. And I called him up and asked if he’s be interested in
writing together and he said he’d love to.’ Fair play! And in case
you are wondering, the rift between Ronan and Louis Walsh would
definitely seem no more. Just check out the photo! Sure the two are
as tight as Trinny and Susannah!

This really is David Gest
If you’ve seen This Is David Gest, you’re probably well aware he’s
no average character. And yes, David definitely dances to his own
drum. But he’s really nice and extremely funny to boot. In fact
truth be told, I’ve had a soft spot for him for quite some time, so
it was a real treat to meet him. Here’s what we covered in a
nutshell before he joined the lads on stage for a rousing rendition
of Mandy – on girlfriend, former Emmerdale star Malandra Burrows: ‘I
love her a lot. She is so good for me. She’s real and wonderful and
everything I have never found.’ On life: ‘It’s never over till
you’re buried. A couple of years ago I was dying. I had a head
concussion (allegedly after being beaten by ex-wife Liza Minelli).
And look at me today. Even though I still get headaches, I am very
much alive and enjoying things I never thought I’d be able to.’ On
his maid, Vaginica Seaman: ‘She is in Memphis right now, recovering
from a yeast infection.’ Yikes. On Ireland: ‘I love Ireland. I will
be touring here this September. It’s my first tour. It’s called
David Gest Unzipped & X-rated. I’ll have 10 midgets, the staff from
Albino Heights Hotel in Detroit, Michigan, the Chinese Girls with
Herpes, and also the Sluts from Hell.’ Could that last group be
Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan? And finally, my sources tell me that
David is also in talks with Westlife regarding potential TV
projects. You read it here first folks! >>>>

Westlife – Updated short biography on Popworld
Source: Pop World
- nice to read actualized version

- Mum-friendly boy band balladeers Westlife were
originally a five piece, consisting of Kian Egan, Mark Feehily,
Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne and Bryan McFadden (who quit the group in
2004)
- Kian, Mark, and Shane were half of six-piece
band IOU in their native Sligo, before Simon Cowell ‘advised' them
to dump the other three. Dubliners Bryan and Nicky joined the band
after auditioning.
- Westlife are still the only band in the world
whose first seven singles went to number one in the UK. They would
have made it eight if it wasn't for Bob The Builder's Christmas
Number one in 2000. Can he fix it? Yes, etc.
- They've had 14 (14!) number ones so far, but
aren't planning on stopping any time soon. They've always said it's
their ambition to get over 20...
- Westlife - known as Westside at the time -
first shot to fame by winning the Smash Hits Best New Tour Act award
in 1998, bagging them the chance to perform live on tv at that
year's Poll Winners' Party.
- The band's text-happy fans have made Westlife
the only artists to win the UK's Record Of The Year award four
times. (Flying Without Wings in 1999, My Love in 2000, Mandy in 2003
and You Raise Me Up in 2005)
- In 2005 Mark Feehily revealed he was gay, and
admitted to the Sun newspaper he was in a relationship with an
ex-boybander, V's Kevin McDaid.
- Nicky Byrne was a talented young goalkeeper,
playing for both Leeds United and Ireland at youth level. You know
what they say about men with big hands... big gloves.
- After Westlife's ‘classic' covers collection,
The Love Album, beat Oasis' greatest hits offering Stop The Clocks,
to the number one spot, Noel Gallagher exclaimed, "that goes to
prove there is no God!" Whilst playing a gig in a church. Tsk.
- Westlife's second number one, ‘Flying Without
Wings', was written after the band really really enjoyed their first
ever ride in a helicopter. Possibly.

Music Review: Westlife – The Love Album – USA
Review
Source: BC Music / Blogcritics.org - Aurora,OH,USA
/ Janine MacDonald
Westlife are the Kings of Balladeers and love songs, so putting
together an album of love songs was probably one of the smartest
marketing moves done by their record label.
Most people thought with the departure of Delta’s main squeeze,
Brian McFadden, the band would collapse but they have gone from
strength to strength through their constant touring, and hit
singles.
Having just signed a five-record deal with Sony, it doesn’t seem
like it’s going to stop for the Irish boy band. I’m a sucker for the
song "The Rose", and have been since I heard it sung by Bette
Midler. Not being a fan of cover songs, I was impressed by their
version of "The Rose", and think they maintained that special
something that goes with the song. The same could be said for the
Bonnie Tyler cover of "Total Eclipse of the Heart", although it did
lack the depth and power that Tyler brings to it with her strong
voice.
One thing I didn’t like was their version of "All Out of Love," with
Delta Goodrem. It’s not so much a criticism of them, as it is
Goodrem and them together. The magic was just not there, and it
sounded in frank, bloody awful. I think the band could have done a
much better job if they had omitted Goodrem altogether.
"You Light Up My Life" didn’t really do anything for me, and I think
it’s a song that needs a stronger voice, so that was a bit of a
disappointment. I also wasn’t a big fan of their version "Easy",
which is covered much better by Faith No More. Both songs just
lacked the depth I was searching for.
"You Are So Beautiful", well what can we say about that? It is one
of those songs that probably shouldn’t be covered for the simple
fact alone, no one does Joe Cocker, or his songs better than the man
himself. Having said that, it’s not a bad attempt on the song, but
it failed to dazzle me.
I did enjoy their version of "Have You Ever Been In Love", because I
think it was sung in the style that Westlife make their own, but
also a style that actually suits the song. It also made you feel the
song, and the impact of the words.
One highlight was their version of one of my all-time favorite Garth
Brooks songs, "The Dance". Their version of it, hit the right
emotion on the head, and was just superb. I think if the master
himself heard it, he would be impressed.
I was actually also impressed with their version of "You’ve Lost
That Lovin' Feeling", because they actually make it worth it, and
there is the right depth in their voices for this song. Much
impressed.
For fans of Westlife, this is a must have album, and even for those
who aren’t fans, it’s worth checking out. One thing that does need
to be taken into consideration is that it is an album of covers, and
it’s not supposed to be an ingenious piece of art.
Tracks not to miss: "The Dance", "You’ve Lost That Lovin' Feeling",
"The Rose" and "Total Eclipse of the Heart."
I give it 3/5

Westlife star Kian Egan may not have
popped the question to Jodi Albert, his girlfriend of four years,
just yet but the pair have made a serious commitment in property
terms by buying a new house together in Essex.
'It's exciting news. We've just completed on buying a stunning barn
conversion,' says former Hollyoaks actress Jodi, pictured right with
Kian.
'It has five bedrooms, is set in three-and-a-half acres and is very
close to my parents' home. I'm now longing to get a horse.' The
couple plan to divide their time between Essex, Ireland and London
where Kian also owns property.
'Kian's house in Sligo is gorgeous, right on the beach,' says Jodi.
'We also spend plenty of time at our place in London.'

Emma's backstage meeting with Westlife - Pictures included
Thank you Emma for writing this review for Shane Filan NL
On Thursday, the 26th of April 2007, I went to the Westlife Love
Tour in Dublin’s Point Depot!! It was my 2nd night to go as I had
been there the previous Friday, the day Georgina gave birth to Rocco
and Jay which was also an amazing night to be in the point!!!!!
Well back to the 26th....I was so excited to go this night because I
was 5 rows from the front!!!! I dressed in my 'Westlife' jacket that
I made especially for the concert and then my Dad drove my mam, my
friend Yasmine who came over from Switzerland, and myself to the
point!!! When we got there we gave our tickets and went in!! Then I
got a phonecall from my dad telling me to come outside!!!!!!!!....
so we went out and he took us around to the backstage door and we
were let through as he had to give something backstage!!!!!!
I was sooooooooooooooo excited as I didn’t expect this at
all!!!!!!!! So Westlife's Tour Manager brought us to the family room
where there was also a woman from 98FM. (Dublin’s most famous radio
Station for those who don’t know). We sat in the room for a while
and little Nicole kept on running in saying ''Hiya''!!! She’s sooooo
adorable!!!! After about 20 mins....SHANE WALKS IN THE ROOM!!!!!!! I
WAS LIKE OMG OMG OMG!!!!! He just waved and told the woman from 98fm
that Nicky was running late from the hospital and they would let her
know as soon as he arrived so she could do the interview!!..... so
we sat for another15 minutes....with Nicole running in and out...
when finally Kian popped his head in to let the woman know Nicky had
arrived!! So again i was like.....OMG OMG OMG!!!!
Once the interview was over we were called to wait to meet the
lads!!!!! We waited for 10 minutes which felt like 10
hours......Until we saw Shane coming in first, followed by Kian then
Nicky and finally Mark....We got pictures with Kian and Shane and
then Nicky came over and he even knew my name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he
said.....''ahhh howya Emma hows it goin?'' I could not believe it
one bit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He said it was a very sad day for him
because Georgina and him left the hospital without the babies.
We then got pictures with Nicky until he had to go and then Mark
came over and told me he absolutely loved my jacket!! He started
asking me loads of questions about it and did I make clothes a
lot!!! I just said...''ONLY FOR WESTLIFE''!! He laughed and got in
some photos and then he went....but a minute later he called me over
and told me to turn around to show Louis my jacket!! hehe!!! It was
brill!!!
Then we went to our seats .....which were 5 rows from the
front!!!!!!!! I had such an amazing view of the lads!!!! It was such
an amazing night!!!!! They danced...joked...laughed and did all
kinds of things with the audience...as you would probably know
yourselves from seeing the concert!! After the concert the lady from
98fm rang my dad and asked me to be on the radio!!!! So I said yes
and it was brilliant!!!.....she started off by saying so Emma I met
ya backstage at the concert and ya had a class jacket'' ha ha !! I
just started laughing and said noooooooooo '' ha ha!!!!! and then
she asked me how were the lads and what was my favourite part of the
concert!!!! I just said....I couldn’t pick a part it was all
amazing''...............................'' every bit of it!!!!!!!''
WHAT A
NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Westlife Release
New Look - the White Milk Moustache - another longer article
Source: Scottish Dairy Marketing Company
Irish pop superstars Westlife have been unveiled as the next faces
to front Scotland’s ‘The White Stuff Milk Moustache’ campaign.
The fresh faces of the four Irish lads donning the famous white
moustache will appear on billboards and bus stops later this month
to help promote the benefits of semi-skimmed milk as part of a
balanced diet.
The band’s involvement comes on the cusp of National Osteoporosis
Month in June.
One in two women will now experience an osteoporosis-related
fracture at some point in their lives and getting sufficient levels
of calcium in childhood and early adolescence is a key factor in
helping to prevent the disease (source: The National Osteoporosis
Society (UK)).
Milk is one of the easiest ways to get calcium into the diet. This
is particularly true of the formative years, when there is a
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build healthy bones.
However, with teenagers and young women continuing to go on fad
diets, which discourage the use of dairy product, they could be
doing their body untold harm in the long-run.
With such a large female audience, Westlife are keen to help raise
awareness of this issue, as band member Nicky Byrne explains: “This
is a great campaign to be involved in and we’re really proud to help
promote healthy living in Scotland.
“We’ve always had an amazing support in Scotland, so it’s fantastic
to be able to give something back.
“It’s crazy to think that people, especially young girls, are
putting their health at risk by following fad diets that could be
damaging their health at a later date.
“I’ve certainly come to realise over the years that you only get out
of your body what you put into it, and milk is a great way to get a
whole host of essential minerals and vitamins, whilst building up
your body’s foundations for later life.”
Band mate Shane Filan echoed these sentiments: “I’ve always been a
big milk drinker; it may be an Irish thing but it was always drummed
into us from an early age that milk was good for you, so I always
drink loads of it when I am on the road.
“It would be fantastic to think that we could make milk as big a
part of the culture in Scotland as it is in Ireland.
“This campaign to date has already helped capture the imagination of
people in Scotland so if through our involvement we can help spread
the message to even more people then that would be great.”
Since its pilot launch in 2003, the campaign has seen a whole host
of stars from the world of TV, music and sport wear a milk moustache
from bands like McFly through to tennis player Andy Murray and TV
presenter Steve Jones.
The campaign is the brainchild of five of Scotland’s leading dairies
- Arla Foods, Graham’s Dairies, Mitchell’s Dairies, First Milk and
Robert Wiseman Dairies, in conjunction with The Milk Development
Council.
The campaign received a boost in the summer of 2005 when it was
awarded a grant by the EU, which pledged to co-fund the campaign for
a period of three years.
Chairman of the Scottish Dairy Marketing Company commented:
“Scotland’s milk moustache campaign continues to go from strength to
strength, and the addition of Westlife, who are arguably the biggest
pop band in the UK at the moment gives us the opportunity to target
a whole new audience, so it’s fantastic to have them on board.”

Wedding in
Hawaii?

Telegraph Saturday paper / Credits:

JODI Albert has revealed that she would love to marry her Westlife
boyfriend Kian Egan on a beach in Hawaii.
The former star of Hollyoaks, who has been going out with the Irish
popstar for four years now, says no date has been planned for the
big day, but that both are pretty confident it will eventually
happen.
Speaking in Hello! mag she said: "I'm not really bothered about
whether it happens really soon or in another three years.
"The point is that we really love each other and are really excited
about our life together."
Jodi also revealed that the first time Kian clapped eyes on her,
when she was just 15, he was bowled over, but was warned by pop guru
and X Factor judge Simon Cowell that she was too young.
The pair didn't get together until four years later.
And she said Kian's best quality is his respect for her.
"His respect for me overwhelms me," she said.
"It's so lovely to have a man who adores everything about me. He's
also such a caring person with the biggest heart."

Interview with Shane Richie - Mentioning Westlife
Source: ITV
- only taken the Westlife part -
Shane Richie quit EastEnders in 2005 and
now calls himself a “freelance actor.” He plays Brian Guest in
ITV1's new one-off drama The Good Samaritan. It's a big year for
him, the 43-year-old marries Christie Goddard, the mother of their
child Mackenzie, this summer and is currently in talks with a major
Hollywood studio. He tells itv.com all about it…
And you're getting married this summer. Tell us about that.
I've been really busy and haven't had a hand in organising any of
it. I've been so busy that I'll just have time to write my speech
and just be there.
There was a rumour you've invited Westlife and
Robbie Williams to sing at it.
I like to be extravagant but I can tell you that contrary to what's
been in the tabloids Westlife and Robbie are not going to be playing
at it.

I'll be a glam gran

DELIGHTED new gran Miriam Ahern yesterday
said she can't wait to hold Westlife twins Rocco and Jay at home.
The Taoiseach's estranged wife, known for her impeccable fashion
sense, said being a gran will not knock her style.
But she joked: "I can make fashion mistakes at any age."
Miriam, who was on holiday in South America when the babies arrived.
Her daughter Georgina, who is married to pop star Nicky Byrne, gave
birth to the boys six weeks early on April 20.
Miriam said: "They will be in hospital for a few weeks, but they are
thriving.
"Georgina has lots of energy - and she is going to need it.
"I am looking forward to the children coming home so I can hold
them."
Miriam was speaking at the launch her annual Newbridge Silverware
Summer and Fashion show in Malahide, Co Dublin, for the Cari
charity.
Cari offers counselling to sexually abused children.
When asked if having little Rocco and Jay in the family brings her
charity work closer to home, Miriam said: "I suppose you could say
that.
"Children affected by sex abuse often need outside help because in
many cases it comes from within the family."
Miriam was joined by her partner Terry McCoy at yesterday's
glammed-up lunch and auction, where TV3's Alan Hughes was MC and top
Irish tenor Paul Byrom entertained.
Despite being separated from Bertie, Miriam is still very supportive
of him.
The pair are still friends and she said he is "very pleased" with
both his General Election campaign and being a grandad.
While the Taoiseach got off to a rocky start with claims of
corruption he appears to have recovered.
'I can't wait for the tots to come home so I can get to hold them'.

Jodi's a true Brit
Source: Daily Star / Credits:
Gitta
FORMER Hollyoaks beauty Jodi Albert might
have been living it up in Los Angeles for the past few years, but
she's got one message for her army of male fans: "I'll always be a
Brit babe at heart."
The gorgeous girl - back on our screens next month in Casualty - has
been working hard across the pond to make a name for herself. But
she reckons she could never move over there permanently - unlike
celebs such as Denise Van Outen, 32, Michelle Ryan, 23, and Rachel
Stevens, 29.
Jodi says: "It's strange all these stars running off to the States.
I just know that I could never leave the UK.
"Besides, I've found that all the American casting directors are
coming over h
I've had so many meetings and I haven't been asked to put on an
American accent once."
Jokingly, she adds: "I think they're over here because the UK is
cheaper."
Whatever the reasons for the American invasion, the brunette beauty
still prefers the British way of thinking. "LA can be so fake, " she
says. "Last time I was there a guy in a Starbucks told me he was
filming a 25million-dollar movie with Penelope Cruz and he wanted me
to be in it. If I was more naive I could have been taken in.
"Everyone promises everyone they'll be a star and no-one means it.
It's all phoney. The English may be blunt but at least they're
honest."
The 23-year-old is already better placed than most budding
actresses. She has pop supremo Simon Cowell, 47, on her side for a
start.
"Simon used to manage my band Girl Thing back in 1999, " she says.
"So I know him quite well. He's a great guy - he still gives me
advice now and I love bumping into him at parties."
So has having the most famous Brit in America as a mentor helped at
all?
"Well, I have been in talks for a couple of things, " Jodi smiles,
"including a part in a new Ben Stiller film."
Jodi, who is happily loved up with Kian Egan from Westlife, splits
her time between London and Sligo in Ireland. The softly spoken star
isn't a huge fan of the celeb lifestyle. "Being a celebrity is
bullshit, " she says. "I never wanted to be someone famous for being
famous. Of course, there are perks. I love days like today for
example - having my photo taken, having my hair and make-up done. I
love trying out new looks."
With her stunning looks and celebrity boyfriend, Jodi is definitely
playing the fame game, like three others in her class at the Sylvia
Young Theatre school: Amy Winehouse, Matt Willis and Billie Piper -
all 23. "I always knew they'd make something of themselves, " she
says.
And although Jodi doesn't want to be classed as a celeb she
definitely wants to continue being successful. As well as trying to
break America, from her London pad, she's also got her stint in
Casualty. "I play a complete bitch, " she says. "It's nice to play
someone who's so completely unlike me."
Despite appearing a few years ago in reality show California
Dreaming, which followed her and five other British celebs around
Hollywood as they tried to make it, Jodi reckons her fly-on-the-wall
days are well and truly over.
She says: "I was on ITV2's Deadline a few weeks ago, which was fun.
But other than that, I draw the line at reality shows now.Working on
Friends or Desperate Housewives would be my dream job."
In real life, Jodi has no plans to become a housewife yet -
desperate or otherwise.
She says: "I just enjoy everything the way it is right now. That
includes not having children.
Maybe in a few years but definitely not now."
While kids are a long way off, Jodi and Kian, 26, who met four years
ago when she played Debbie Dean in Hollyoaks, have made one
commitment.
They have a one year-old Maltese dog called Prince. Jodi says: "We
do spoil him a lot. He's on tour with Westlife now in Dublin with
Kian.
"While I'm here on my own he's staying in a four-star hotel, " she
laughs. So at least one member of her family enjoys the celeb
lifestyle.

The group will don the campaign's famous white

The band, who have topped the UK charts 14 times,

The spokesman for the Scottish Dairy Marketing

BUSTY soap stunner Gemma Atkinson looks Miami Nice as she tops up
her tan.

Gemma, 22, was joined in
Florida by ex-Hollyoaks co-stars Jodi Albert, 23, and Sarah Dunn,

The girls took snaps of each
other as they relaxed on the sand and frolicked in the clear water.
A fellow tourist said: “Men
kept glancing over.”
Maybe they were hoping for a

Looking good Jodi

WESTLIFE wag Jodi Albert proves she's top
of the pots in her latest photo shoot.
Kian Egan's squeeze sprawled over a bed and blew a kiss to her
admirers for a hot magazine session.
Wearing a lime and cream dress, the 23-year-old former Hollyoaks
star sizzled as she flashed her legs and showed off her curves.
She then slipped into a revealing white dress that showed off her
cleavage as she posed in the bathroom.
An onlooker said: "It's easy to see why Kian is smitten - Jodi is
stunning.
"She even made loo roll look sexy as she posed for the shoot in the
bathroom."
But Kian will have to wait a few more years before he tames the
telly star.
She explained: "I don't want to have kids or get married just yet.
"We are both far too busy. If we did have kids we'd need about seven
nannies to help us look after them."

Pop has
become one of music’s guilty pleasures - Mentioning Westlife
Source:
Sligo Weekender / By Robert Cullen
I
READ a captivating interview in one of the Sunday newspapers with a
Wisconsin singer called Jeffrey Foucault, last week.
One of the lines from the interview which stuck with me was: “I am
happiest when listening to a sad song”, which struck a chord,
because most of us have a sad song somewhere amongst our favourites.
I wrote an article a few weeks ago about the power of specific songs
in our life and I received a great response from many people who
read it.
Most of them told me the songs which meant something to them and I
got into some deep discussions on the power of music.
But, almost to a person, each of the songs mentioned were from
accomplished or fast-rising singersongwriters, and very few were
what could be classified as pop songs.
Which is a shame. Today it seems like pop music is a guilty pleasure
for anyone over the age of 16. In actual fact, not since the glory
days of the 80s has so much honest, decent pop music been produced.
Take the Irish album charts. Of the top ten albums pop music makes
up, six of them are pure pop.
The Arctic Monkeys may be top of the charts, but right behind them
is Avril Lavigne’s latest album The Best Damn Thing.
Now, leaving aside the obvious aesthetics of this poppunk singer,
her music has all that is necessary for good pop. A strong theme, in
most cases either trying to get with a boy, is balanced out by a
playful tone and the all important catchy chorus.
Nelly Furtado, Beyonce and Christina Aguilera are also in the top
ten, which begs the question, why aren’t there more male pop stars.
Well, leaving aside the boybands, of which Westlife seem to be the
only ones outliving their rivals, it’s simply not seen as cool to be
a prince of pop.
Thank God for Mika then. He may grate on some and his debut hit
“Grace Kelly” was played to death on national radio, but he is
unashamedly pop in the mould of a 1980s Michael Jackson.
Even more like golden-era MJ is Justin Timberlake who has
single-handedly held up the integrity of male popstars for the last
few years.
It just goes to show, you don’t need to be sad to be taken
seriously. Now, Snow Patrol, how about a smile?

A message from
the band
Source: westlife.com
On 3rd May, Westlife played their final concert
of what has been an amazing tour. Over three months the boys
performed throughout Australia, South Africa, the UK and Ireland and
won the hearts of fans across the globe.
They've written the following message to thank everybody who managed
to come to one of the shows...
'Wow. The tour has finished and we can't quite believe it. We've had
an absolute blast this year and it's gone so unbelievably quickly.
Travelling, performing and meeting all you guys around the world has
been amazing and now we're all looking forward to a relaxing break
and some time with our friends and family.
We just want to say thank you so, so much for everything. Your
support over this tour has been awesome and we look forward to
seeing you all soon.

Jodi Albert: Independent
woman
Source: Virgin Media
Former Hollyoaks star Jodi
Albert, who played Debbie Dean in the soap, has slammed women who
live off their partners' wages and branded them "lapdogs".
The actress - who is currently
dating Westlife star Kian Egan - says she would never give up her
career to wait on her man.
Jodi told Hello magazine: "I
would rather work a normal job on a minimum wage and not have a nice
house or flash car than be somebody's lapdog. I actually couldn't
think of anything worse than following Kian round and being at his
beck and call."
The 23-year-old believes that
her determination to have her own career was one of the main reasons
Kian was attracted to her.
She added: "I know Kian likes
me because I'm fiery and independent. I think it's all due to my
mum, she brought me up well and always taught me that men want what
they can't have. I think that's probably stuck in my head!"
Jodi also revealed she loves
other girls lusting after Kian.
She said: "I actually love it
when girls fancy Kian because it flatters me a lot! And let's face
it, if there were girls fancying the boys then there'd be no
Westlife! I'm not insecure because I know Kian loves me and would
never stray. So there's no reason for me to ever get jealous."

Westlife to record album of film soundtrack favourites
Source: Access all areas
Irish pop group, Westlife, have almost completed their world tour
and will take a well deserved break ahead of their recording of the
band's eighth album.
Westlife have had previous success with their most recent album 'The
Love Album', an album of covers of some of the world's most popular
love songs. Now Westlife will begin their next chapter covering hits
taken from film soundtracks.
The new album will be the band's third 'themed' disc after releasing
an album of Frank Sinatra style songs with Allow Us To Be Frank
album (released in 2004) and the more recent Love Album (released in
2006).
On their forthcoming album the band will cover songs including
Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On from Titanic, I Will Always Love
You from by Whitney Houston from The Bodyguard and Wet Wet Wet's
Love Is All Around from Four Weddings And A Funeral.
Earlier this year band member Kian hinted that "there will be
another album at the end of the year without a doubt"!

Irish pop group Westlife are going to the movies - by recording an
album of film soundtracks.
The new album will be the third themed disc the quartet have
recorded, after singing swing classics on Allow Us To Be Frank in
2004 and famous love songs on The Love Album last year (06).
On their forthcoming eighth studio album, Westlife will sing Celine
Dion's My Heart Will Go On from Titanic (98), I Will Always Love You
from The Bodyguard (92) and Wet Wet Wet's Love Is All Around from

UST when
you thought WESTLIFE couldn’t get worse, the cheesy boyband
are about to sink to a new low.
They plan to record an album
of movie songs — with the Titanic theme the CD’s ultimate disaster.
CELINE DION’s My Heart
Will Go On topped the chart in 1998 when released with the
blockbuster.
Now it will chart all over
again as the big single from Westlife At The Movies. Talk about two
monstrosities colliding.
And there are other naff
tunes the lads are tipped to pick.
Power ballad I Will Always
Love You would need a Bodyguard to save it from murder by Westlife.
But as a track for the
KEVIN COSTNER flick it was a WHITNEY HOUSTON hit.
WET WET WET’s cover of
Love Is All Around was No1 for 15 weeks as the theme for Four
Weddings And A Funeral in 1994.
But if swept back to No1 by
Westlife it would be as a funeral march for the chart’s credibility.
BRYAN ADAMS was No1 for
16 weeks in 1991 with (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, from movie
smash Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves — and it seems a cert for
Westlife.
They have subjected us to an
album of love songs and one of swing classics.
But clearly these were the tip
of the iceberg. The latest release is even cheesier.

The re-development of The Point
Source: Point Village
The Point Village
Like
sentinels rising up, the Point Village Watchtower and it's sister,
the independent U2 Tower standing either side of the Liffey estuary
will mark the dawning of a new gateway into Dublin city.
Point Village will be a world class
business and cultural hub with the Capital's premier entertainment
venue the Point Depot at the heart of this new iconic city-centre
development.
Point Depot
There is nowhere in Ireland like the Point Depot.
It is Ireland's premier venue for almost any event. The venue has
been turned into an ice rink, a boxing arena and a wrestling ring.
It's been a theatre, an opera house and a circus. Conferences,
seminars and exhibitions for national and multinational firms have
all been held there.
The re-development plan for the Point is extensive and involves
increasing the seatiing capacity and facilities. The new 14,000
seater Point Depot will be the largest venue of its kind in Europe,
offering state-of-the-art entertainment facilities, including
remarkable acoustic insulation so as to minimise disturbance to the
surrounding local area.

Fan makes off with Westlife
Credits:
Gitta
A CHEEKY Westlife fan caused chaos when
she broke into Westlife's backstage area at The Point and nicked
their underpants.
The teenage girl sneaked in among a crowd of competition winners who
were meeting their idols - then did a runner with their Calvin
Kleins.
Now the band is worried she will flog them on eBay for hundreds of
euro.
A band source revealed: "The lads were doing a meet-and-greet for
some of their fans and had left their changing rooms.
"But when they got back their underwear was missing. A girl was seen
running out but by the time security noticed she had slipped into
the crowd."
The stars have new underwear laid out in their dressing rooms for
every live show.
Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Shane Filan and Mark Feehily were preparing
to get changed for one of the final nights of their sell-out tour
when the thief struck.
The source added: "Security is always very tight but it seems she
managed to get in among the big crowd.
"She slipped away while they were doing pictures and picked her
moment.
"She got into three of the dressing rooms because Kian's was the
only underwear she didn't get. She was obviously disturbed by
security before she got to his room.
"The girl was spotted wandering around by a security guard and when
he confronted her she just legged it - with the pants in hand.
"These will either be used as a personal momento or they could end
up on eBay and make the girl a fortune."
The singers won't have any problem forking out for more smalls -
they are believed to have earned a cool EUR1million each from their
latest tour.
They are taking a two-month break from music before returning to the
studios to record their 10th anniversary album - and plan next
summer's birthday gig at Croke Park.

Jodi Albert says Westlife's Kian Egan loves
shopping.
The former Hollyoaks actress
is dating the singer and is delighted to be going out with a man who
doesn't have to be dragged around the shops against his will.

Albert told Soaplife: "I can't
believe I've been lucky enough to find a man who like shopping as
much as I do."
Egan even gives the soap babe
good style tips when they are enjoying a spot of retail therapy
together. Albert said: "He's got a good eye for fashion as well."
Since leaving the popular soap, Albert has acted in Five's sitcom
Respectable, the BBC's Casualty and The Inspector Lynley Mysteries
and British film Popcorn, co-starring former EastEnders actor Jack
Ryder. Albert also appeared in reality television series, California
Dreaming, in an attempt to break Hollywood, but left before the end
of the series. Albert won the British Soap Award for Sexiest female
in 2005 and regularly poses for shoots in magazine such as FHM and

Four Years after we revealed their
romance Jodi Albert talks about her marriages plans with Westlife's
Kian Egan
Looking impossibly glamorous in cut-off jeans and a floaty top. It’s
easy to see why actress and ex-girlband singer Jodi Albert has
stolen the heart of Westlife's Kian Egan. Having been together for 4
years its clear they’re a stronger couple than ever and with the
Essex, its surely only a matter of time before they make plans to
formalise things "Of course we want to get married - we talk about
it all the time but we’ve always say were not going to cave into the
pressure of having to do it before we want to!" says Jodi, with a
wide smile. "Kian and I are really excited about our life together.
I’m only 23 though and for me having babies is a long way off." adds
the actress, who for 3 years played Hollyoaks' feisty shop assistant
Debbie Dean. That’s not to say Jodi, once voted TV’s sexiest
soapstar, isn’t excited about the prospect of starting a family.
"When I do have a baby I want to spend all my time with it - I will
be the one who brings it up. To do that I have to have grown up
myself. Jodi and Kian were first introduced to each other by music
mogul Simon Cowell, but over three years went by before they began
dating. "Kian wisely realised that at 15 years I was far too young"
smiles Jodi very shyly. Back in those days it would have been
difficult to imagine just how big Westlife would become. They’re now
considered to be one of the most successful bands ever in British
Pop History, worth an estimated 35 million. "The fantastic thing
about Kian is he’s completely down to earth about the band's
success. Just like the other members" Jodi praises. It was after
Girl Thing folded that Jodi, then aged 18, turned once again to
acting. - her first role had been as a 10 year old in the West End
production of Les Miserables. Her successful role in Hollyoaks
followed and last summer she landed the role of Hayley, a
prostitute, in channel 5's sitcom "Respectable" her first movie
Popcorn has just come out and she recently finished shooting an
episode for Casualty,-to be screened in June.
Your acting has really taken off but what about your singing,
have you ever considered going back into the music business?
Possibly. But right now things are going so well with my acting; I’m
not ready to jump ship! My time with Girl Thing was fantastic. I
travelled the world, and it made me grow up. I was by far the
youngest member of the band but probably the most mature!
What’s was the catalyst that forced the break up?
A few of the girls in the band didn’t get on well, or was pregnant
and I don’t think any of us had the same goals. It was all too
manufactured. At the time it was perfect for me, but right now it
wouldn’t be something I’d feel particularly proud of.
Did you know from an early age what you wanted to do in your
life?
After playing Corsette in Les Miserables I got bitten by the
performance bug. In school I was always very shy about standing up
to sing, but the acting it was different for some reason. I was so
confident. With singing I always held it a little closer to my
heart. If someone doesn’t like your voice, then that hurts because
it’s not easy to change. Having said that, I love singing.
Just how much influence has Kian had on your life and career?
I wouldn’t say he influenced me in any way, as regards my career,
because I’ve always known what I wanted and I pride myself on being
independent but he has supported me enormously in every decision I
make, whether he agrees with it or not! I’m the same with him… I
wouldn’t try and get involved with what Westlife do as a band and I
wouldn’t ever tell him what not to do. We have our relationship and
our careers and they are two different things.
Does he ever mind that your career keeps you apart from him?
No, because his keeps us apart just as much. We've never lived a
normal life as such. People are amazed that Kian and I can spend so
much time apart, and still make it work. We do because that’s what
you do in this industry.
Trust must play an enormous role in your relationship?
Trust is the biggest part of our relationship. I couldn’t be with
Kian if I felt I couldn’t trust him and vice versa. We know that
we’re a team and pretty good one. I suppose we have quite old
fashioned values, too. He was brought up by a good old fashioned
Irish family, and I come up form a working class east London
background. We are both home bodies and will never forget where we
come from.
Many women in your position would have halted their career and
followed Kian around.
”I would rather work a normal job on a minimum wage and not have a
nice house or flashy car, than be somebody's lapdog. I actually
couldn’t think of anything worse than following Kian around and
being at his beck and call. In fact I know he likes me because I’m
fiery and independent. Actually I think he was quiet surprised at
the start of our relationship as sometimes I just go off the radar
for two days and he’d be like, “where are you?” I think it's all due
to my mum, she brought me up well and always taught me that men want
what they can’t have. I think that’s probably stuck in my head
You’ve known each other now for 8 years, How did it all begin?
Simon Cowell introduced us at the party in the park in 1999. Kian
was like this pop star teenager, I had seen a picture of the band
and my eye had gone straight to Kian, but even at that age, I was
very proud and determined, when I met him, I wasn’t going to show
it. They all walked in and Simon introduced them, and as soon as I
saw him, I got all embarrassed, and after saying hello, turned on my
heel and walked off.
Does Kian recall that encounter?
Oh yeah, he apparently said to Simon, “who is that?” and Simon told
him “no darling, you can’t have her, not that one”. Kian hasn’t
realised I was only 15. Over the years we bumped into each other at
various gigs. Somehow we both knew that we end up together. We
eventually ended up together when I was 19!
How does Kian feel about you being voted sexiest soap star? Is
there anything he ever put his foot on over workwise?
No, when I won the award in 2005, he was so excited he started
texting my family saying “it’s official, she is the sexiest soap
star.” As for your other question, Kian knows I always make the
right decision. He knows I won’t let anyone take the mick out of me
and he also knows that I’m a very proud person.
How do you cope when you see thousands of girls throwing
themselves at him?
I actually love it, when girls fancy Kian because it flatters me a
lot. And let’s face it, if there were no girls fancying the boys
then there’d be no Westlife. I’m not insecure because I know Kian
loves me and would never stray. So there’s no reason for me to ever
get jealous.
What is it for you that makes Kian stand out from the crowd?
His respect for me overwhelms me. It’s so lovely to have a man who
adores everything about me. He's also such a caring person, with the
biggest heart.
How do you spend your time together?
We have Kian’s; house in Sligo. It’s gorgeous right on the beach.
Kian also spends an equal amount of time in our place in London. The
exciting news is we just completed a stunning barn in Essex. It has
5 bedrooms, is set in 3.5 acres and very close to my parents home.
I’m longing to get a horse.
Does this mean you’re starting to think about settling down?
Were definitely trying to make life easier for ourselves, like being
around our family when we’re in England, and Kian’s family in Sligo.
Yes of course I’d love to get married but we want the time to plan a
nice wedding and we want to be able to enjoy companies afterwards
and not have to rush straight back into work. It’s definitely on the
cards, but Kian hasn’t even proposed yet.
Do you have any idea when he’ll pop the question?
That’s something you’ll have to ask him. I’m not bothered whether it
happens really soon or in another 3 years. The point is we really
love each other and are excited about our lives together. If we get
married great. But at the same time were both very focused on our
careers. People aren’t going to be interested in us forever.
Where would your ideal wedding be?
Kian has spoken about a tropical one. We love Hawaii but who knows,
I’ve never been christened in church and I have a very open faith. I
believe in God but don’t see myself getting married in church. We
don’t want a big wedding, but I expect when I start planning it, it
will probably get out of hand. Although Kian’s family are Catholic
they don’t frown on the fact we like to write our own vows and do it
our own way.

WESTLIFE want to thrill 80,000 fans at Croke Park next summer to
celebrate their 10th anniversary.
The pop stars are planning the monumental show to follow in the
footsteps of U2, Robbie Williams and Garth Brooks by selling out the
Dublin venue.
Singer Shane Filan, 27, revealed: "We have been thinking about a
great way to celebrate the 10th birthday and Croke Park would be
perfect. Growing up it has always been a mysterious and historical
stadium and we'd love to sell it out.
"We have done Lansdowne Road and that was amazing but this would be
the ultimate thrill.
"There are talks at the minute to see if it's possible and we will
be taking it from there.
"Hopefully we can pack Croke Park next summer and it would be our
finest hour."
The stars completed a 12-night stint at the Point last night and
will now take a two-month break before returning to the studios.
Their latest tour has been one of their most popular with more than
200,000 fans attending the shows. Promoters believe they can turn
Croker into an all-seater venue for the night.
One top promoter said: "This would be Westlife's greatest night and
the ultimate homecoming show.
"We have no doubt the tickets would shift quickly and the lads would
have a night to remember.
"It will be a show packed with their greatest hits to celebrate 10
years at the top of the pop business."

Westlife Undressed
Source: Evening Herald / Credits:
Rach for typing this up and sharing. Thanks!
Herald fashion writer Lisa Fitzpatrick goes backstage to see what
makes the top boy band so stylish
It was great having a nose through the Westlife boys’ wardrobes last
night in the Point Theatre, where they are nearing the end of their
long run. They arrived in the venue dressed casually – changing into
a ‘Men in Black’ style for their opening numbers.
It was incredible to watch the transformation in them. The boys all
have great style, and by now they all know exactly what they want to
wear both on and off stage.
Group member Kian Egan has very fixed ideas, and told me that he
would never wear a stage outfit that he was uncomfortable with,
often turning down outfits that had been brought along by their
stylists. Kian likes shopping and prefers to dress very casually
when he is off stage. He prefers loose, baggy jeans and very rarely
wears a suit, as he has to do when he performs. Kian also has no
time at all for big brand new name designer labels, and his
favourite trousers are a four yr old pair of Gucci denims. But if he
likes something, no matter who designed it then he will buy it.
Mark Feehily also enjoys shopping and regularly cleans out his
wardrobe. He and his partner, Kevin, are different sizes, so they
never really argue about clothes – except for the contents a box of
extraordinary clothes that Boy George recently sent around to Mark.
He puts his used clothes in plastic sacks and invites friends over
to pick out whatever they want, before the rest go to charity shops.
And while he likes shopping, he also enjoys just keeping an eye on
fashion and new style trends. He likes many high street styles as
well as many of the main designer labels.
While I didn’t get to chat at length with Shane
Filan, who arrived later, he transformed from a guy in a grey hoodie
to a smart black-suited star with pointy silver shoes. Nicky Byrne,
who was still on a high from the birth of his twins and was dressed
casually in a brown leather jacket and jeans when I knocked on his
dressing room door before the spectacular show. He told me how he
sometimes shops for wife Georgina – and occasionally gets it wrong!
His favourite designers for suits are Alexander Mc Queen, and YSL,
although he sometimes wears Gucci. And off stage he loves white
adidas tracksuits and trainers, which he buys all the time. He only
buys clothes in phases, blitzing the shops every few months. And the
band’s stylists only buy his stage clothes, with Nicky purchasing
all his other clothes himself. He loves to shop in Brown Thomas and
River Island. He also has a soft spot for Alias Tom, where he worked
for several months as a sales assistant before he successfully
auditioned for Westlife.
And while they have a hair dresser on tour abroad and do TV shows,
back home they usually do their own hair before they go onstage.
Nicky said he is probably the most adventurous of them when it comes
to hair. And he has vowed never to shave his head again as he didn’t
think the look suited him at all! They said they’re looking forward
to a few weeks off after tonight’s final gig.
Nicky will have his hands full with the twins, while Mark just wants
to get back to his house in Sligo to chill out.
Onstage they all wore black to begin, with Mark and Nicky in
waistcoats and Shane and Kian in silk shirts. When Kian took off his
jacket after first song the fans nearly screamed the place down
They looked very young and hip, with dance moves to rival Justin
Timberlake. The final costumes .change saw them dressed all in white
with silver suit jackets. I thought they all looked so incredibly
handsome.

David not in visa crisis - Mentioning Westlife
Source: Metro
David Gest's spokesperson has
denied reports that he fled the UK yesterday
after his visa ran out.
Newspaper reports suggested
that the I'm A Celeb star was forced to rush to
Ireland to get a new visa before his appearance
as a judge on Grease Is The Word tomorrow - and
that ITV bosses were anxious he wouldn't make it
back in time.
"His visa is not running out
and in any case you don't go to Ireland to renew
visas," his spokesperson said.
"David went to Ireland for a
day to comply with work permit guidelines which
coincided with a trip he had planned to Ireland
to see Westlife who he became friends with when
filming the David Gest show.
"He will be back in the UK
for Grease."
Earlier this week the
53-year-old admitted that he finds it hard to
watch himself on the show because he looks
"weird" and "crazy".
He said: "It's hard for me to
watch myself, I cringe. When I did see a little
bit of it I thought the guy was definitely out
to lunch. Crazy.
"I was doing a reality check

WESTLIFE star Shane Filan is in 007 heaven
- after getting his hands on a EUR130,000 James Bond car.
The singer spent a fortune last week on an Aston Martin DB9, the
same model used by Daniel Craig in Casino Royale.
Sligo man Shane, 27, bought the motor, which boasts an aluminium
6.0-litre V12 engine, 450bhp and goes from nought to 100kph in just
4.9 seconds, to celebrate the end of Westlife's 50-date tour.
Speaking backstage at the band's Point gig, Shane revealed: "It's
one of the best cars I've ever driven - it's a real treat.
"I have always dreamed of driving a Bond car and I finally got one
last week.
"We've had a fantastic sell-out tour and this was a treat as we come
to the end of it."
Westlife have always been famed for their love of flashy cars and
with a combined fortune of around EUR48million they have the cash to
indulge their tastes.
Shane also once chartered a helicopter to help him travel around
Ireland with ease.

Jodi Albert Interview - Deadline

Surfing, Horse riding, even jumping out of planes - these are the
secrets to a good relationship, according to 23-year-old Jodi
Albert.
As if dating Westlife Hunk Kian Egan, 27, isn't enough, former
Hollyoaks actress Jodi insists on injecting high-octane danger
sports into their relationship.
"We did a tandem skydive for charity," she reveals. "It was like a
dream, every couple should try it."
Another key factor in keeping their love strong is enjoying time
apart. "We've been together for four years," she says, "Being apart
keeps it fresh - it's still exciting. When he's on tour, we talk on
the phone, but we also have our separate lives." Not that being
apart is the long-term plan as this celeb couple wants to settle
down. "I can't wait to get married. Deep down I’m traditional. We
talk about marriage all the time, even the dress I’d wear. It'd be
something elegant and classy, not something that will make me look
like i belong on the top of a wedding cake!"
Family Planning
Another subject close to Jodi's heart is kids. "We both want to have
children but, for the moment, we've put them on hold," she says.
"Kian wants to be a Dad but, like me, he knows kids are a
commitment. The last thing we want is to have to employ nannies.
"We'd like to bring up our kids ourselves, but it's not the right
time in our careers. People won't always be interested in us, so
while they are, we're working hard. Then we'll start popping out a
nice Irish family!" But staying independent is high on the star's
agenda as family life.
"It's all too easy to fall into the trap of being a kept woman,"
says Jodi. "That doesn't appeal to me at all. I hate being called a
Westlife Girlfriend. "I've worked my butt off since i was 10, and
have plenty of ambition of my own. I love strong, independent
women."
Career Move
As far as work goes, it's clear where Jodi is heading - The movies.
"In the last week, I’ve had three meetings for films i want to work
on," she reveals. Not that the bright lights of Los Angeles appeal
to this down-to-earth girl. "I wouldn't live in the Hollywood
circus," she says. "It's so fake. Everyone talks S**t. i Spent time
out there and can handle maybe a month at a time, but i love coming
home to real people."
Deep down, Jodi's a homebody, as happy on the sofa as attending
glitzy parties. "I Love doing photoshoots, dressing up and looking
sexy," she smiles. "But to be honest, i can't wait to take off the
make-up, put on my tracksuit, and relax at home in front of the TV
with a tub of ice cream!" So, what does Jodi think about the whole
Size Zero debate raging at the moment? "I hate this size zero crap,"
she fumes. "Women should look like women, not girls trying to fit
into six year olds' jeans. That's so messed up. If I have curves and
a mag says that I’ve put on weight, then good.
"Women like Beyonce and Shakira should be the people that they're
promoting. Sexy, womanly figures - that's what i aspire to."
Aspire, Jodi? You are sexy and womanly. And an inspiration to us
all.

Marriage is on the cards, says Jodi
Source: Metro / Fame (Hello)
Jodi Albert has admitted
she's hoping to tie the knot with Kian Egan one
day.
The former Hollyoaks actress
has been dating the Westlife singer for four
years and hints that marriage might be the next
step.
"Of course we want to get
married - we talk about it all the time but
we've always said we're not going to cave in to
the pressure of having to do it before we want
to," she tells Hello magazine. >>>

She adds: "It's definitely on
the cards but Kian hasn't even proposed yet!"
When quizzed about her ideal
wedding venue, Jodi says: "We love Hawaii, but
who knows?"
But while they might be
taking a trip down the aisle some time in the
near future, it seems the couple aren't likely
to hear the pitter-patter of tiny feet just yet.
"Kian and I are really
excited about our life together. I'm only 23
though, and for me having babies is a long way
off," says the actress.
"When I do have a baby I want
to spend all my time with it - I will be the one
who brings it up. To do that I have to have
grown up myself."

Bertie beats Enda in the Google stakes - Mentioning Westlife

MOBILE phone users had some good news for
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern yesterday.
A survey of people who use the internet on their phones found that
more than twice as many were likely to Google Mr Ahern as his Fine
Gael rival Enda Kenny.
The poll was carried out by mobile phone company 3 to coincide with
its launch of the Google network via its handsets.
Sixty-nine per cent of people said they would Google Mr Ahern
compared to just 31pc who said that they favoured Mr Kenny.
The recent success of the Irish cricket team could have influenced
the 72pc of people who said they would Google them in preference to
the Irish soccer team.
And when it comes to Irish actors who are making a name for
themselves in Hollywood, 62pc of people said they would search for
Jonathon Rhys Myers' name compared to 38pc who opted for Colin
Farrell.
Asked about popular radio broadcasters a further 69pc of people who
took part said they would key in Eamon Dunphy's name rather than
that of George Hook.
Users of the 3 network also seem to like their boybands with 81pc of
those questioned saying they would Google Westlife's name rather
than the Kaiser Chiefs.
